Inclusive of all taxesThymol is the most common monoterpene phenol derived from thyme oil or any volatile oil, and it is isomeric with carvacrol. It is extracted from a number of Thyme plants, including Thymus vulgaris, Thymus zygis, and others.
Because Thymol Crystals have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties, they are utilised as a stabiliser in pharmaceutical preparation. It is included in dusting powders used in cases of tinea or ringworm infections. Thymol shows extreme solubility in alcohols and other organic solvent but slightly soluble in water at neutral pH.
