Aluminium Oxide Calcined, commonly known as calcined alumina is the densest and most stable crystalline form of alumina, and is made by roasting a source alumina powder at 1200-1300ºc. This makes it possible to control the hardness and abrasive properties of the alumina, such as polishing and grinding. It is useful in many industrial applications such as structural and technical ceramics, polishing compounds for plastic, metal, and glass, fillers for rubber and plastics, anti slip, refractories, paint and coatings, and thermal spray powders. This white crystalline powder is chemically stable and has a high melting temperature (about 2000ºc).
Calcined alumina is odourless and insoluble in water. It is used in a variety of ceramic and refractory applications.
